The Inseparable Crisis: Why Black Maternal Health is Black Infant Mental Health

Perinatal families are facing growing challenges when navigating obstetric and postpartum care systems. This burden is exacerbated in Black communities who face disproportionate barriers to care. As providers and community members, we must shift to more dyadic and whole family care- and we can start with maternal and infant mental health. We can shift our mindsets of separate care- mothers and infants are not two separate systems-we must hold them both.
